DeskConnect App Reviews

What’s This For?

Thanks to Chris in a former review:(Our current file size limit is 100MB!!! What the heck is this for then?) just for a sake of transferring small files? and to do so you have to give your email, password and so on, then their servers can get and encrypt every piece of your private photos or whatever!!! It’s not worth it, and personally i still prefer Air Drop any file i wanted without any hassles, and even very big files. What a shame...

hand over my data???

you have to log in with email and PW… i.e. everything goes first of all to their servers. Why not simply use WiFi??? This does not appear to be about convenience, rather about getting at data. No way, bye bye.

Missin simple things

The desktop version doesn’t have “Show in Finder” options for images which I sent from my iPad. The iPad version on the other hand can only send one picture at a time. Sometimes the drag and drop of website links wouldn’t work from my mac mini to DeskConnect onto my iPhone. The app froze when I wanted to manually save the images to another location… besides the bugs, I don’t like the UI.

awesome

Just listened to Mac OS Ken, I have actually felt like this is something that has been missing in the apple verse, especially that you dont have to be on the same wifi or Blue tooth!! this is just an app that works, and does what i have always wanted, Thanks soo much and keep up the great work.

Amazing!

Works very well, exactly what Ive been looking for: easily share items between my phone and Mac! No more waiting for iPhoto to open and populate just to share a photo with friends! Setup is painless, and it works right away. Highly recommend.

Flawless.

Photos arive from my iPhone 5 to my MacBook Pro before it even finishes sending, literally one second or less. I always thought that emailing myself files worked just fine; you dont have to pay, you can send fairly large files and its unlimited, so I figured this app would be a waste of time. NEVER HAVE I BEEN SO WRONG! This app delivers the same exact features only it saves minutes, just drag and drop and its there! Simple, elegant, and beautiful UI, I love it! My only suggestion would be a control-click option to send files. Sometimes its difficult to drag and drop using only the trackpad. Great job developers!

Wow.

Probably one of the most useful and easiest to use apps out there. I can send files to and from any device: MacBook Pro, iPad, iPhone or iPod. Forget about emailing files to yourself. This app works a lot bette than anything else like it. Documents, pictures, whatever, open immediately after youve transfered them. This is will change the way you work.

How it Works

This program works great! If you have a question on how to do something with the app, go to the FAQs on the website and im sure youll have it all figured out. Enjoy the ease of transferring with this app.

Finally something that works

A superior app that i found really useful to transfer photos and videos taken with my T2i to my phone. Dont hesitate and just get it!

Excellent app

Must have for users with Mac/iPhone/iPad

So Useful!

I use this daily on both my Macs and my iPhone/iPad. It’s the best way to copy something from one machine to another. I don’t know how I lived without it!

Fantastically helpful

DeskConnect is exactly what I was looking for—a way to get files and links across different devices with minimal hassle. I used to copy them to Dropbox and then load it up with the other devices, but DeskConnect makes it much easier with just a drag and drop with a popup on the other device. It works so well sometimes I forget that it’s NOT a part of the default OS X / iOS operating system!

Perfect

Works really smoothy and perfectly ! Also use Dropbox but Deskconnect is smoother and faster.

great app! tip: change notifications to alerts

I’ve wanted something like this and have hacked together some solutions for sending links from my iOS devices to my Mac using Dropbox, IFTTT, and Workflow. This app works really nicely and now I can ditch all of that stuff! If you want things you send to your Mac to stay on the screen until you see it (without having to go into notification center) then you can change your Notifications preferences for DeskConnect, and instead of Banners change it to Alerts. This makes it better because I don’t have to remember to go check for things in notification center.

Airdrop Blows this away

I thought this was going to be super sweet, but the amount of time it took to send a single photo from my phone to my computer. Airdrop literally does 40 images faster than this app did one… I will continue to see how it works with files and clipboards, but i gotta say Apple has pretty much nailed this with airdrop , if your running new mac computers and a new iphone, or ipad, its wayyy faster and smoother

amazing

that’s what i want!

make sending multiple photos from iPhone

Please make it available to send multiple photos FROM iOS device to mac. It would be also quite cool if you make sending files through the ad-hoc wifi network or bluetooth, without needing the internet connection.

First impressions

I’ve been using the app for a few minutes by now, but the app seems to be really helpful and friendly. I’ve just transferred a .pages file to my iPhone, and it has opened easilly. That’s a great for-offline-purposes addition (not alternative, of course) to the iPhone mail file storing/reading capabilities.

Sorry, I really wanted to like this, but...

I have sat here for 1 1/2 hours trying to get the stupid app to work. Nothing! It’s installed on two devices but still neither one sees the other one. And their support site? A joke! How about some support on the support site to get the bloody app to load right. But no, nothing about installing the app, just instructions on how to use it once you are released from the State Mental Institution a year or two after you tried to install it. Waste of time folks. And I really, really hate having to write a negative review but sometimes you just have to stick your foot in it...

Unbelievably Fast

The idea for an app like this is great, it fills in the missing link between iDevices and Macs. The implementation is good too. But the real gem is how fast this is. You’d think emailing things is the fastest way, but DeskConnect transfers the files faster than your Mail app/site will even open. Excited for the future of this app.
