DeskConnect App Reviews

worked flawlessly the first try

As a writer, I often need to access to many things across all my devices. Have a book cover idea, sent to my ipad and iphone first try without a hitch. I’m very pleased. Easily set up.

Great app!

This app works quickly and exactly the way i want it to. Im glad that i don’t have to have the app open on my phone or my mac to recieve data. One of my favorite apps!

Works Great!

Everything works flawlessly as advertised. I can easily transfer files between my three devices (MacBook Pro, iPhone, iPad) and it’s realtively quick. Seems faster from my Mac to an iOS device than the other way around. However, the speed is very acceptable. I was able to make a call from my Contacts using DeskConnect.

Disaster but barely did get it to work

Installed seemingly correctly on iPhone5 iOS7.1.2 and MacMini OS10.7.5 Did sent an image from Mac to iPhone. But Refused to link from iPhone to Mac, so clicked link on Mac to send to, reinstall on iPhone. No idea what happened. My FireFox seemed stalled quite a while so I tried to close each of the two windows I had open, one to six tabs open in each. First window Firefox asked if I really wanted to close 264 tabs!! Deskconnect had opened essentially all of those tabs. did get it closed Second window Firefox asked if I really wanted to close 799 tabs!! Desk connect had opened essentially all of those as well. Did get it closed. Got computer shut down and restarted. Tried again, it did send a photo from iPhone to Mac, successful, OK. Tried again, didnt like photo so didnt save. Then tried to open unsaved photo again from DeskConnect "Recent" menu, it apparently wasnt saved and no way to retrieve it. Not stored on my hard drive (unless maybe under another name) Will uninstall if that is possible. Why oh Why does Apple not allow Bluetooth transfer from iPhone??? I had emailed the photos from iPhone to myself but they never arrived. I suspect the iPhone is again maddeningly trying to send via Apple mail rather than my gmail, which just get the emails stuck in Apple Mail "drafts" even tho it says it sent them. Im quite sure the satisfactory reviews of DeskConnect are phony.

Works Great!

I don’t know why people say they have trouble with this app, it works great! It was wasy to install and transfers file without any issues. I love it because it transfers files easily and the files open up in which ever app I want with no problems. It’s the missing link since Airdrop doesn’t work between Macs and iOS devices!

Awesomeness

Truely amazing app. I really dont know how I got along without it (alot of emailing and texting myself). Effortlessly zaps info between four devices. Extremely love this app.

Great App

The app works well and quickly. It’s very easy to set up and I found the transfer speeds - from my iPhone to my Mac and vice versa - to be quick and easy. I only ran into a problem while trying to send a saved document from my Numbers application. An error message popped up saying that the file was not in my directory. In order to avoid this alert, I had to save the file as a PDF format and send it in that manner. I think the error only occurs when trying to send an iLife file such as, Pages, Numbers, etc., but you can go around it by saving it as in an alternate format. In summary, DeskConnect works as it is advertised. Small bumps, but nothing too major or disconcerting.

Perfect

This app is just what I was looking for. I used to send stuff through email or dropbox but this is so much easier! And free! I really like it.

It’s Okay

Works fine from iPhone/iPad to Mac. The other way not-so-much. This doesn’t work with Firefox (though they say they’re working on it) or other third-party apps. You can send a request. Not sure why the ‘Show Clipboard in Menu’ is disabled by default, but it is. This is the only featured that works flawlessly for me. Sending documents from Word works but I do most of my writing in simple text editors such as Textmate. No support for Textmate but if you use Textedit (I don’t), you’re in luck. Dragging files to the status bar works great but it’s a little awkward. I agree with another reviewer who questions the high ratings. Not a 1 star app but definitely not a 5.

Best in Class When Not on the Same Network

This is my go-to when I want to share between platforms but I’m not on WiFi (or, as at work, not on a wifi network that let’s me share). It works reasonably well, though it’s really frustrating that the URLs are always in a .ZIP file of a .RTF file. That’s not very convenient. Still it gets the job done. Use something else if your devices are on the same wifi or Bluetooth network though. There are better products for those more controlled situations.

Solid app

The app is quite fast, my documents only take one second to transfer from my Macbook to my iPhone. The clipboard sending function may come in handy, but does not work with non-English characters. This is unfortunate for me when I’m working on translations on my Mac then sending them from my phone.

Great App

I use this app all the time for send web pages or pictures to my iPhone,

Nice app, but a bit unnecessary

While the app itself is designed and implemented very well, I feel obligated to point out that it is literally AirDrop.

Cannot imagine what troubles people are having ...

and why don’t those of you who are having trouble write the devloper for help? This little menubar app is one handy tool, and has worked without effort or problem between MBPto, iPad and iPhone, in either/ any direction. All on same network.

Creating a username and password should be irrelevant

The functionality described by this ‘app’ is exactly what I am looking for. I downloaded it. When I opened it for the first time it required of me to create a username and password. WHY??? The app syncs devices that are connected by a damned cord. My Mac to my IPhone! The only reason to require a username and password is so you can be harrassed by email. I’m deleting it from my drive.

Good but I have some better ideas for it.

I like it pretty well as is but I would like it if you could have a window in the application with two tabs which show all the recently sent and all the recently recieved documents, websites, photos, etc. I like the Mac app much better than the iOS counterpart but that’s beyond the scope of this review and I have already sent an email to them asking for an update to that. Also, I wish this had a share extension to make sharing through deskconnect a little easier. That would be for both iOS and OS X. Overall, I would recomend this app but it could definitally be a lot better!

Undue delay- “stay tuned for update”… 2 years ago, still no update

In March of 2104… "DeskConnect 1.1.1 fixes several bugs and adds a few handy features. Were hard at work on DeskConnect 2.0; stay tuned!” In March of 2016, still on DeskConnect 1.1.1 no update on Mac App Store. I wouldnt count on this being contemporary or compatible going forward. That said, their Workflow app on iOS is very useful by itself.

Apple’s “AirDrop” is an absolute joke.

Struggled with Airdrop for the better part of an hour trying to get a rather large iMovie mp4 onto my phone. It took a total of maybe 5 minutes with this app. I dont write reviews but this one here is a life saver.

Bloody brilliant!

This is about as seemles as it gets. It’s dead simple and I’m amazed how good it is! Great job!
